AOK guarantees the protection of your personal data
It is important to us that you are aware at all times of when we store specific types of data and what we use it for. Each data entry form therefore also includes a specific privacy notice and the option to withdraw your consent.
When you visit our website, your browser automatically transmits data to our web server, namely:
- the date and time of access
- the accessed file
- the web address of the referring website
- browser type, language and version
- operating system
This data is analysed for statistical purposes and to improve our services and is then erased unless the law requires otherwise.
Storage of IP addresses
In order to protect legitimate interests in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, a hosting service collects data on AOK's behalf each time the server housing this service is accessed ("server log files"). The log files include the name of the visited website, the file, the date and time of access, the amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, browser type and version, the user's operating system, the referrer URL (the page visited beforehand), the IP address and the requesting provider.
Due to technical reasons (to ensure the functionality and stability of the website) and security reasons (e.g. to investigate abusive or fraudulent conduct), log file information is stored for a maximum period of seven days and is then erased. In addition, the IP addresses are stored during the back-up process for a maximum period of four weeks and then erased. Exempt from erasure is data that needs to be kept for evidentiary purposes. It is retained until the relevant matter is finally resolved. The full IP address is not transmitted. AOK does not itself record any IP addresses and at no time can it access them. In this context, the data is not evaluated for marketing purposes either.
Temporary use of anonymised IP address for the purposes of identifying location
AOK uses geotargeting in connection with its online content. Your IP address is truncated in such a way that it is no longer possible to find out what it is. Your location is determined based on your IP address, which is anonymised through truncation. This enables us to offer you targeted content that may be of interest to you based on your location. The anonymised IP address is not permanently stored, but is used solely for this purpose.
In accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, AOK stores persistent cookies, used in web analytics, for statistical purposes in order to protect legitimate interests (i.e. the interest in analysing and optimising our website) and evaluates them solely for the purpose of web analysis to optimise the website. These cookies expire automatically after 24 months if you do not revisit the AOK website during this period.
If you do revisit the relevant AOK website, the cookies are read. They are not used to personally identify visitors to an AOK website.
Data security and encryption
Whenever you are asked to enter personal data about yourself, its transmission via the Internet is secured using SSL encryption, so it cannot be read by unauthorised third parties.
We provide social media plugins to enable you to use the social media services of various companies. They are incorporated in AOK's website subject to a 2-click process. AOK itself does not use social media plugins to collect any personal data or information on their use. Through these plugins, however, data (including personal data) may be transmitted to and used by the U.S. providers. The process in place ensures that no personal data is initially disclosed to the providers of the individual social media plugins when you use our website. Only when you click on one of the social media plugins can data be transmitted to the provider and stored or processed by the provider.
YouTube videos are embedded on our website. This is not done through plugins but by integrating the URL using iframes (small windows in which another website is displayed) in enhanced data protection mode. The domain is replaced with the official YouTube-nocookie domain. According to the information currently provided by YouTube, applying this option means that information about visitors to the website is only stored if they play the video, but not if they merely visit the page on which the video is embedded.
For further information about the collection and use of data by YouTube and your rights to protect your privacy, please see the privacy information at https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/
AOK uses technology that is customary in the market to develop its website based on your habits in order to protect its legitimate interests in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. To generate web statistics, AOK and its partners use Adobe SiteCatalyst by Adobe Systems Incorporated (hereinafter "Adobe"). AOK uses this service to process anonymous data in order to analyse which headings and text on its website are read more than others or how, for example, you find the navigation experience. Anonymous means that this data does not and cannot identify an individual. Such anonymous data includes information about links to AOK websites (referrer links), browsers, operating systems, screen resolutions, size of viewport , plugins, language settings, cookie settings, date and time, downloaded files, use of online forms (e. g.: frequency of submissions) and search engine terms. The system also records traffic-sources, process abandonment, site exits, the number of visits and visitors, used devices (e. g. smartphone, tablet or pc incl. manufacturer), single page visits, clicks and the time spent on the website and its corresponding web pages.
Adobe provides this information only to AOK in the form of summarised and anonymised data, which provides a picture of how the AOK websites are generally used. The data is not used in any other way or disclosed to third parties.
If you would prefer that AOK did not receive this information in future, you may object to the inclusion of your data in web analytics. To do so, please click here: Prevent tracking with Adobe SiteCatalyst
If you would like more information about data protection at Adobe or you would like to lodge your objection with Adobe directly, please click here.
In both cases, activating the objection will result in a persistent (objection) cookie being placed on your computer. However, the cookie does not mean that data cannot be transmitted to Adobe anymore; it just means that Adobe will no longer use the transmitted data for web analytics. However, any time you erase this (objection) cookie in your browser or by running cleaning software, you withdraw your objection.
Responsibility for content and information
The information provided by AOK contains links to other websites, e.g. partner websites. When the link was inserted, this third party content was reviewed to ensure that it does not violate applicable civil law or criminal law provisions. It is, however, possible that the respective providers will subsequently change this content. Please let us know if you believe that linked third party websites violate applicable law or otherwise contain inappropriate content. We will review your advice and, if necessary, immediately remove the link. In this context, AOK is not responsible for the content and availability of linked third party websites.
